Massive congratulations to Alexis Pryor on winning the MBA NSW Apprentice of the Year award this weekend for 2nd year apprentice carpentry. 29 year old Alex received the award at the MBA NSW Excellence in Constructions Awards on Saturday night. Alex joined HH two years ago as a mature-aged apprentice, following a distinguished 7-year career in the elite 2 Commando Regiment of the Australian Army. After serving around the world including 3 tours of Afghanistan, as well as Iraq, East Timor, & Fiji, Alex decided to have a change in careers. Enrolling himself in to both Carpentry and building courses at the same time, he then started looking for an apprenticeship. Many builders did not want someone so old as an apprentice, but we saw his age, life experience, ability to make decisions under pressure as an asset. We have not looked back since, and Alex has become an important member of our team! We entered several of our apprentices in this most prestigious of awards this year. 19 year old Zac Allen was also a runner-up in his category. Well done Zac!

Two years ago, when Janine and Tony Adams decided to buy a 50s-style duplex in Sydney's eastern suburbs, they were so set on demolishing the building and just replacing it with their dream home that they didn't bother even inspecting its downstairs rooms. The former finance executives had lived in several homes in the area, as well as overseas in New York, and were no strangers to building projects and renovations. Wanting additional room, they had decided to sell their Bellevue Hill home and find something that would better accommodate them and their two teenage children.
