This new residence was constructed using a "top-down" approach. Following demolition and installing
contiguous piles for the basement excavation, the ground floor slab was poured first in order to "brace" the piers. Ground floor brickwork,
first floor concrete and brickwork followed. While the timber framed "Saw-Tooth" roof was being built, the basement was excavated from
underneath the house, making the very tight site (279m2 in total) incredibly efficient.
Complicated materials handling, stormwater and sewerage requirements were dealt with in a systematic way. A new pool was also built, over
the sewer, and on two neighbouring boundaries. The entire project from demolition to moving in took 8 months.
Some of the features of this fantastic small home include Dynalite Smart home, Access Control , Sonos distributed Audio system,
electric louvre windows and blinds, VRV Air-Conditioning throughout, Home theatre and Wine Cellar, limed American Oak floorboards,
off-form concrete entry portico and benchtops.
Winner at the 2011 MBA NSW Excellence in Housing Awards for the $1-$1.5Million category.
